My Path to Makeup

Hi! I’m the new kid in the neighborhood…the North Park, San Diego neighborhood! So far, this city has been incredibly fun and filled with things I love. After living in Ventura County for over 15 years, I’m happy to be here and discover more of this town!

Over the last decade, I’ve been so lucky to have designed a career that I love. With a background in nutrition and wellness, I have followed a path that led me to become a licensed esthetician in 2014. One day, one of my wax clients asked me to help with makeup for a wedding she was in. That one gig changed the trajectory of my career and has allowed me to really engage with my creative self.

I continually find inspiration in art, music, fashion, people, history…and the way all these things mesh in the world. I spend time looking at old photos. I love to dream up ideas for new artistic ventures.

Makeup is my art. The colors, the textures, intuitively applying them to an infinite variety of canvases. It’s never monotonous, I am inspired every time. I think of makeup as an accessory, similarly to how you’d add something to an outfit. Is it a necessity? No. But can it personalize your look and add visual interest? For sure! When I’m really in my happy place is when I get to create an entire look…the makeup, the hair, all of it…gleaning inspiration from my client’s style and event.

Many of my clients are drawn to my clean, natural aesthetic. Don’t get me wrong, although I tend to approach makeup with a light hand, I can bring the rock n’ roll when it’s called for.
